Our Staff

Dr. Tanner
Dr. Tanner

DVM

The medical director and co-owner of Boxford Animal Hospital, Dr. Tanner has practiced medicine since 1991. A native of Norwalk, Connecticut, Dr. Tanner attended the University of Connecticut, where he was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Pathobiology in 1985. He went on to attend the Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. Dr. Tanner completed an Internship in Internal Medicine at South Shore Veterinary Associates in 1991. His professional interests include avian medicine, internal medicine, and soft-tissue surgery.

Dr. Tanner and his wife, Dr. Clegg, co-own Boxford Animal Hospital. They have two children and a cat named Ollie.

A member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. Tanner’s hobbies included skiing, gardening, and boating.

Dr. Hiler
Dr. Hiler

Veterinarian

A Michigan transplant, Dr. Cari Hiler earned her bachelor’s degree from Smith College, graduating cum laude with a biology and chemistry double major, and a dance minor. After working in molecular genetics research at MGH, she attended Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2001 with honors.

Dr. Hiler has been providing compassionate care for dogs and cats on the South Shore since graduation. After running her own practice in Millis for years, she relocated to the north shore with her husband, started a family, and began offering relief veterinary services. Dr. Hiler came to Boxford Animal Hospital in 2022.

Dr. Hiler’s professional interests include feline internal medicine, histology, and ophthalmology. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association. Outside work, Dr. Hiler enjoys spending time with her son, gardening, home improvement projects, cooking, reading, and crafting.

Dr. Ledoux
Dr. Ledoux

Does Ultrasounds at Boxford Animal Hospital

Dr. John E. Ledoux was born and raised in Nashua, N.H. He attended Bishop Guertin High School and graduated in 1982. He then went to the University of Pennsylvania and received his Bachelor of Science in 1986 and his V.M.D. in 1990.

He took his first veterinary position at the Bethlehem Veterinary Medical Center, a ten-doctor practice in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he received extensive private practice experience in surgery, medicine, emergency medicine, and ultrasonography. Desiring to move back to New England, he accepted a position at Andover Animal Hospital, where he worked as an associate and eventually the hospital medical director until 1999. In 1999, Dr. Ledoux moved to the
Riverside Veterinary Clinic and started Mobile Ultrasound Service, servicing many of the surrounding clinics in the Merrimack Valley.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Ledoux’s current passions include reading, running, music, and spending time with his wife, Dr. Lori Gordon, and their two sons. They share their house with one dog, Davner Abigayle Gordon Ledoux.

Our Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Reese graduated from Cornell University in 1991 and from Tufts University’s School of Veterinary Medicine four years later. She went on to complete an internship at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston in 1996, followed by a small animal surgical residency at Cornell University in 1999. After her residency, she returned to Angell as a staff surgeon for almost 12 years. She was also the director of the Surgery Residency Program there, where she trained more than 30 new board-certified surgeons. In 2001 she became board-certified as a specialist in small animal surgery by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. To stay current on the latest veterinary trends, she’s a member of the AVMA, MVMA, NHVMA, Society for Veterinary
Soft Tissue Surgery, Veterinary Society of Surgical Oncology, and Veterinary Orthopedic Society.

Dr. Reese brings a wealth of experience in the field of advanced animal surgery to our hospital. Her diverse skills range from orthopedic to neurologic to soft tissue procedures. These procedures include advanced fracture repair, laryngeal tieback surgery, brachycephalic airway correction, persistent right aortic arch surgery, thoracic duct ligation, and cisterna chyli ablation for idiopathic chylothorax, lateral and ventral bulla osteotomy, skin grafting, oncologic surgery, patella luxation repair, and cranial cruciate ligament repair. In 2000 she became certified to perform the Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) procedure for cranial cruciate ligament repair. Two years later, she became one of the first surgeons in New England to perform Tibial Tuberosity Advancements (TTAs) for cranial cruciate ligament repair. She takes pride in her ability to provide compassionate care for her patients and she maintains open communication with their owners.

Dr. Reese shares her home with her son and husband. In her rare free time, she enjoys traveling, gardening, softball, and golf.

Technician

Meet Katie, our technician. She has been a technician for about 20 years. Katie strives to make each patient, and their family feel like they are part of our family. Making them feel confident that their pet is getting the best care. In her free time, she loves spending time with her own cats and dogs, watching crime shows, traveling, going to concerts, and hanging out by the ocean.

Customer Service Representative

Meet Emma, our Customer Service Representative! A graduate of UMass Lowell, Emma’s passion for animals started at a young age with pets such as a gecko, snake, and dog. While working at a dog rescue in college, she developed an interest in animal medicine and canine behavior. She is driven to help all animals and ensure they get the best care possible. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling with her rescue dog, Ramsey, reading mystery books, and spending time with family in Maine.
